The paper analyses the designs of sprayers used in Uzbekistan and abroad for the chemical protection of fruit trees against diseases and pests, and reviews their advantages and disadvantages. The sprayers are classified by working element, method of airflow generation, dosing of the working liquid and level of control. They were evaluated using the following criteria: uniformity of deposition on leaves, working-liquid consumption, losses to air and ground, adaptability to the tree canopy, suitability for local manufacture and cost. As a result, a mounted axial-fan sprayer with sensor-controlled nozzles is substantiated as the optimal type for the new model.
