This study is devoted to highlighting the history of the development of artificial
intelligence (AI) technologies used in higher education institutions and their current practical
application. It analyzes the main types of AI technologies used in modern education, starting from
the 1965 “Plato” system, such as virtual tutors, voice assistants, smart content, presentation
translators, automatic assessment, personalized education, smart campuses and plagiarism
detection systems. It also presents the principles of operation, conveniences and practical examples
for each type of technology, emphasizing the importance of AI technologies in the effective
organization of the educational process, saving time, faster assimilation of information and
individualization of the learning process.
